This week our CSA Customers received a cantaloupe, okra, Armenian, poinsette and lemon cucumbers, tomatoes (big and cherry mix) and a pepper assortment.
We are learning that the CSA’s differ day to day. So some people will get a watermelon and some will get a cantaloupe or you may get different peppers. We pick the garden the morning of CSA pick up and then divide it between customers that day.
Here’s a copy of a letter that went out to our customers this week.
Dear CSA Customers,
As the seasons change in Oklahoma and the summer temperatures hit 110 on a regular basis, the garden slows down. We know that and we expect August to be a lean month. So your CSA’s will look different and there might even be a few weeks of no CSA’s. Only the LORD knows with the weather in OK. J But He is faithful and so far the garden is green and producing albeit slowly. As your Farmers, we wanted you to know that we are working hard to ensure a great fall crop. We have planted (not guaranteed) potatoes, green beans, corn, butternut squash, acorn squash, and spaghetti squash. This month our goal is to plant cabbage, beets, collards, turnips, eggplant, and pumpkins. Also, your CSA may contain a lot more of one item then another. Don’t forget you can freeze most produce easily for great nutrition in the winter. The info is on our website and we welcome your calls with any questions. Also, if you want to make pickles or something else, this is a great time to ask us to substitute this or that and we will do our best to make it happen. We are so blessed to be your Farmer. We hope you are blessed with your Safe, Chemical Free produce. As always, let us know of any suggestions.
All for Him, Gil, Cynthia, Dylan, Alyssa, Daniel, Timothy, Abigail, Emily, and Hannah
Also, I forgot to mention that we will also be planting more carrots, kale, romaine, sugar snap peas, radishes, and spinach when the weather cools. 🙂
I have fall fever already!
Here’s a cute picture of siblings that are best friends. It’s hard to believe Sarah Lyn would be right in between Timmy and Abby. We miss her greatly but are thankful for the time we had with her.
